Scholarships

Buckno Lisicky & Company is pleased to offer the following scholarships

Gene M. Buckno Memorial Scholarship

Honoring a legacy of dedication, leadership, and service, the Gene M. Buckno Memorial Scholarship was established by the Shareholders of Buckno Lisicky & Company to recognize outstanding Allentown and Bethlehem student-athletes who plan to pursue a degree in finance or accounting. This $2,500 scholarship reflects Gene M. Buckno’s lifelong commitment to the accounting profession and his deep-rooted passion for giving back to the community.

About Gene M. Buckno, CPA

Gene M. Buckno was not only a founding Shareholder of Buckno Lisicky & Company, but also a trailblazer in the accounting industry, dedicating over 50 years to his profession. His leadership extended to organizations such as the AICPA and PICPA, where he served as president, treasurer, executive committee member, and chairman. Recognized for his influence, he was appointed to the Political Leadership Cabinet in 1998, one of only 23 members nationwide.

Beyond his professional contributions, Gene was a devoted community leader. His volunteer work included roles with:

  • Kiwanis Foundation of West Allentown
  • Girls’ Club of Allentown
  • Allentown Salvation Army
  • DeSales University
  • Cathedral of St. Catherine of Siena
  • Trexler-Lehigh County Game Preserve
  • Numerous political campaigns

As a Liberty High School graduate and former football player, Gene lived by the motto:
“Work Hard! Play Hard!”

This philosophy guided his personal and professional life, and through this scholarship, we aim to honor his legacy by supporting students who embody the same spirit of hard work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence.
